Message from the Principal

Welcome to the Hinde House 3-16 School website. I hope this provides a flavour of our school although I know this can never provide a full picture. For that you need to visit our school, talk to our children and meet our staff. I believe these will provide a compelling picture of the school, its current strengths and its ambition for the future.

The school was the first public sector 3-16 through school in the country (2002). Ten years on (2012) Hinde House 3-16 School is one of the most improved schools in the country, and almost certainly the most successful 3-16 school. Primary phase is officially the highest performing primary school in Sheffield with student progress amongst the top 1% of schools in the country and attainment well above national averages at Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. In 2010 the secondary phase was identified as one of the 100 most improved schools in the country. GCSE results in 2012 showed another massive increase and we are currently seeking confirmation that between 2006-2012 no secondary school in Sheffield improved more.

This progress was noted by The Rt Hon David Blunkett (MP for Sheffield Brightside & Hillsborough) in summer 2012 when he said ‘I am writing again to say how extraordinarily pleased I am at the results for Hinde House. I think these are outstanding. Everyone at the school deserves enormous credit and I hope you will pass on my own heartfelt congratulations’

How has this been achieved?

We believe our success is the result of:

  1. A very clear and consistent ethos based on good behaviour, respect, positive relationships and hard work.
  2. Good teaching in all areas and a commitment to high quality training for teachers to ensure their practice keeps improving.
  3. A strong commitment to full inclusion for all children irrespective of culture, background, ability and Special Educational Need or disability.
  4. An insistence that each day the school is a happy, safe, tolerant, cohesive and purposeful place to work and learn.
  5. Strong leadership which is relentlessly focused upon pupil progress and attainment at every level.
  6. Outstanding school buildings which were completely re-built in 2005 (secondary) and 2006 (primary), and are exceptionally well maintained.
  7. A commitment to excellence in all aspects of school life.

As a result of our growing reputation we enjoy confidence and support within the local community, across the city and regionally. Due to over-subscription primary was given permission to expand (in a phased way) from September 2012. Consequently, primary  was completely re-modelled during summer 2012 to create additional teaching spaces and rooming capacity. This has enhanced what was already a fantastic school building

Whilst we are very proud of what has been achieved we are not complacent and remain committed to further and substantial school improvement for our pupils and the community we serve.
