Academy Closures

It is always the academies intention to remain open unless prevented by circumstances that create a risk to the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors

  • Severe weather: For example - snow, flooding, or storms.
  • Accommodation problems: For example - loss of power or heating.
  • High levels of illness: For example - Pandemic outbreak.
  • Disruption to transport: For example - petrol or diesel shortages.

If the decision is taken to close before the academy day starts, then parents will be informed by the following ways:

  • A message will be posted on the academy website as soon as a decision is made
  • A text message will be sent to all parents (please ensure we have your up-to-date mobile phone number)
  • A message will be sent via the Arbor Parent App
  • There will be an announcement local Radio
  • We will update our Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Closure during the day

If the academy needs to close early, we will:

  • Place a message on the academy website as soon as a decision is made
  • Send text message to all parents (please ensure we have your up-to-date mobile phone number)
  • For secondary academies a message will be sent via the Arbor Parent App
  • There will be an announcement local Radio
  • We will update our Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Should the academy need to close during the day, i.e. heavy snow fall, parents should consider what arrangements they need to have in place for their children:

  • Can they go to an alternative house if you are not in
  • Do they have a spare key
  • Do you require them to remain on site till you collect them

Throughout any period of extreme weather, please visit the school website on a regular basis for up-to-date information.
