A Visit to Kelham Island
Year 6 embarked on an exciting visit to the local museum at Kelham Island, to support their learning of why Sheffield is known as the Steel City. Before the visit, pupils researched all about the Industrial Revolution, its impact on the city and some of the trailblazers of Sheffield who were involved in the key developments. On the trip, pupils learnt more about Crucible Steel, Bessemer Convertors and much more, before investigating how the changes impacted people in the past, and longer-term impacts for us today. The year group are looking forward to taking their local learning further next half term as we discover how geographical factors also impacted on historical developments in our wonderful Steel City!
