Curriculum - Primary

The Hinde House Primary Phase curriculum is knowledge-engaged, which means that the focus is on skills underpinned by a firm grasp of understanding the knowledge needed to apply those skills. Our curriculum is designed to inspire enthusiasm for learning, ensure achievement for all and support pupil wellbeing and happiness.

Reading to learn is a vital aspect across the curriculum subjects; we use Oxford Reading Tree and the Read Write Inc phonics programme to support the teaching and learning of reading skills.

At Hinde House, Foundation subjects are taught through the Dimensions Curriculum, named so because they provide breadth and depth to the subjects taught.

Dimensions = Breadth X Depth

Curriculum Breadth – Breadth of knowledge and skills needed by people in their lives and at work. A breadth of pedagogical approaches, and a breadth of learning experiences.

Curriculum Depth – Meaning and relevance; cohesion; opportunities for inquiry; development of critical and higher order thinking skills; integration of subjects; provision of access to information from a range of sources and viewpoints; authenticity of end products.
