Secondary Phase

*Update on Face coverings

Following the recent Government updated advise (below) and in line with the advice from Sheffield Director of Public Health (below) pupils and staff in the secondary phase will be expected to wear face coverings in any communal areas. (Communal areas will include corridors/stairwells/ multiple use office areas and toilets.)
Face coverings will be part of the expected uniform for Secondary pupils from 4th September until further notice.

From: Department for Education and The Rt Hon Gavin Williamson CBE MP
The World Health Organisation (WHO) published a new statement on the 21 August on when children should wear face coverings.
They now advise that “children aged 12 and over should wear a mask under the same conditions as adults, in particular when they cannot guarantee at least a 1-metre distance from others and there is widespread transmission in the area.”
As a result, the government is revising its guidance on face coverings for staff and children in Year 7 or above in England.

Sheffield Position on Face Coverings (from Sheffield Director of Public Health)
Whilst Sheffield is not identified as an area of high virus transmission and is not identified as an area of Government intervention at this time the Sheffield Director of Public Health advises all secondary schools, that face coverings should be worn in communal areas and on corridors.
It will not be necessary to wear face coverings in the classroom. Face coverings do not need to be worn in primary school settings.

If your child is exempt from wearing a face covering please forward your exemption request to Hinde house enquires in the following email address enquiries@hindehouse.net
