Post 16 Evening Thurs 5pm 14th October

The final school year is a vitally important one for all Year 11 students. It is also a very busy year, as many events are organised to support students and parents in making Post-16 decisions.

Post 16 Evening Thurs 5pm 14th October

In school, Y11 students are finding out about the range of options open to them when they leave next summer. To complement this, we would like to invite you and your child to our Post-16 Information Evening on Thursday, 14 October at 5pm.

The itinerary for the evening will be as follows:
• 5:00-5:45pm - subject drop-in with heads of department (in B corridor classrooms) regarding attainment and mock exams

• 5:45–6:00pm - careers presentation (in the Hall) with Mrs Birrane and Sheffield Futures

• 6:00-7:00pm – (in the dining room) an opportunity to meet over 30 invited representatives from Further Education, 6th Form Colleges, Apprenticeships and Vocational Training Providers. There will be stands and exhibitions for you to collect information from and members of their staff to answer your questions

• 6:00-7:00pm - HeppSY (Higher Education Progression Partnership) drop-in sessions in the conference room

• Refreshments will be available throughout the evening

Please try to come to this important evening. Post-16 opportunities have changed so much recently, that you may not be sure of the full range available to your child. All schools in Sheffield will be expected to submit student post-16 applications via ‘Sheffield Progress’ – the Sheffield Authority’s online application website. Students can access this from home as well as school to complete their personal research and prepare and complete their application. You will be able to find out more about this process on the night to support your child in making informed, realistic choices.

It is particularly important that our students get applications in as early as possible, and every student will be encouraged to apply for more than one option. Many decisions will be made which will have a direct bearing on future prospects in jobs, careers and further education. Parents are an essential part of the decision-making process for their children.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, 14 October
